final reflections

The individual in the social media is you and me and everyone who lives a modern life today. The computer has become the center of all everyday communication like phone, TV, radio, papers and also social relations. It's an important element in many individuals life and is connected to them like a third arm. I have some friends who feel amputated and completely lost without the computer and if they go on vacation or so, the first thing they do, when they come home, is to go online to catch up on the lost computertime.

Yesterday we had a seminar at giicod about second life. There are people actually living in a virtual world most of their waken hours and who build up a new life there with marriage, kids, house etc. It can be connected to their 'real life' , but it can also be a totally different life. The point is that everything is possible, and you make the rules yourself. The movie 'Matrix' is for real, and the old phrase "maybe we'll meet in another life" can actually happen - only in second life!

It has been extremely inspiring to participate in giicod and to take a bite of the big virtual apple. I'm really fascinated of this brand new world and curious about where it will take us. Do we have a tipping point in the horizon? What will happen to the 'real' world, while the virtual world grows bigger, richer and more colourful? What will happen to the individuals who spent more and more time on the web - but who sits alone in front of the computer without physical contact? etc..

With many questions and lots of excitement about the social media, I'll finish this wiki. Thank you for following me on my virtual journey and see you out there!
